Signs You Have a Leak

When speaking about plumbing problems, we all know that things like broken water heaters, slow drains, and clogged toilets are very hard to ignore, but other problems such as leaks are more difficult to find, and let’s not forget that must of the time they are noticed after they have actually caused quite a big damage.

Here we have created a list, to help you to be prepared and knowledgeable about some of the most common signs of water leaks, and if you notice any of these signs and you live in Miami, contact JCN Plumbing at 786.758.3085. #1 You have received a Higher Water Bill than Expected

Have your water bills suddenly increased? If this is the case, you could have a leak somewhere in your home. To make sure the spike isn’t due to a seasonal change, compare your current water bills to those from the same month last year.

#2 Water Meter Repeatedly Ticking

If you notice that your water meter is continuously running even though you are not using water in the house or even outside the house, then you should consider this as a red flag.

#3 Mold and Mildew

Leaks often cause damp spots on floors, walls, and/or ceilings. These damp spots can give rise to mold and the musty odors that come with it. This is another important red flag. There might be a leak in your home, especially if there is a musty smell inside it.

#4 Foundation Cracks

As your home settles over time, cracks can start to develop in various places. If, however, you begin to notice foundation cracks suddenly developing, you could have a leak. The water that continually seeps out of your pipes can weaken a home’s structural components, which can cause cracks in the foundation, walls, and other areas.

#5 Wet Spots

Check for wet spots. Make sure you go around the house checking near the sinks, tubs, and toilets. If you notice wet spots or even discolored areas of the floors, then you are in the presence of more warning signs that you could have a leaking pipe.
