How to Unclog a Toilet Without a Plunger

As the actual situation makes it more complicated and less secure to have people visiting our homes, as the social distancing becomes more and more necessary every day due to COVID-19, we think it is good to know how could you unclog a toilet without even using a plunger, just in case you have an emergency and can’t call a plumber right away.

The first thing you need to do is to get ready and grab the few things you'll need to handle the backup.

The technique below works for toilets that aren't overflowing since you'll need to add liquid to the bow. If your toilet is overflowing you might need to start removing the water manually first, even though the idea doesn’t look good to you.

Step 1: Drop a good amount of dish soap or shampoo into the clogged toilet. You can also use a bar of soap which you will cut into pieces and use that instead.

Step 2: Add a gallon of very hot water to the bowl. Do not throw boiling water.

Step 3: Wait for a few minutes and watch.

Repeat STEPS 1 and 2, or gently use a wire hanger to push the debris down the pipe.
